Australia’s Today Show is coming to Whistler

Most women who have watched Australian breakfast television would remember Sami Lukis as the perky weather person on Channel Nine’s Today Show.

Most Australian men will remember Lukis’s photos in Australia’s FHM magazine.

Many children would remember her as the host of Network Ten’s animal show Totally Wild.

And foreign viewers might recognize her as the women who does the same job as Al Roker on NBC’s Today Show.

Either way, as far as weather reporters go, Lukis has a high profile and she’s coming to Whistler for two days where she will show thousands of Australian viewers some of what the resort has to offer.

Lukis will be presenting her live weather forecast on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Roundhouse on Whistler Mountain.

Access to the Roundhouse will be free for any Australians with identification but Channel Nine is encouraging everyone to attend the show.

As part of the program the Today Show will also be interviewing some local mountain biking stars as well as some of Whistler’s most recognized winter athletes such as Ross Rebagliati and Steve Podborski.

The Today Show will be broadcasting from several locations across Canada Sept. 19-23. Wayne Gretzky, comedian Rick Mercer, Man in Motion Rick Hansen, Sue Johannsen (the granny who gives sex advice on radio and the David Letterman Show), Justin Trudeau, members of Cirque de Soleil, Olympic silver medallist Mark Tewksbury and other Canadian celebrities will also be on the Today Show during its visit to Canada.
