Backcountry Safety Day Sept. 8

Canada’s first national Backcountry Safety Day will be held this fall.

Federal Health Minister Allan Rock, made the announcement Wednesday at a fund-raiser in West Vancouver for the Kokanee Glacier Alpine Campaign, a project in memory of Michel Trudeau and other Canadians who have lost their lives in pursuit of their backcountry passions.

The Backcountry Safety Day, slated for Sept. 8, will include an outdoor concert by Great Big Sea at Grouse Mountain Resort. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.kokanee-glacier.org.
