Backcountry workshop deals with avalanche risks

Backcountry enthusiasts are invited to attend a full day workshop in Vancouver next weekend to get the latest information on avalanche risk.

The Backcountry Avalanche Workshop, hosted by the Canadian Avalanche Association, is designed for anyone who likes travelling in the winter backcountry.

The course is open to the general public and will cater to all levels of backcountry experience.

Tickets are $40 per participant and the money will go into programs such as the CAA’s online avalanche bulletin. The bulletin will be posted three days a week beginning Nov. 15.

The avalanche workshop will take place on Sunday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ridge Theatre in Vancouver.
