Best Bar/Club:

Moe Joe's

Moe Joe's gets the nod as Whistler's top nightspot.

The club was recently renovated and includes two pool tables along with a big dance floor and two elevated dancing podiums.

"On behalf of the entire Moe Joe's team, it is an incredible honour to be voted Whistler's Best Nightclub by the readers of Pique," says Greg Britnell. "With so many amazing nightclubs located within our little village, we accept this accolade as a massive compliment. Most of the credit goes to our staff, past and present, and a big piece of the recognition goes to the world's best party people — Whistler's locals."

Buffalo Bill's was second in the voting and Tommy Africa's polled third.

Best Bartender:

James Dean, Maxx Fish and Scot Curry, Alta Bistro

Top honours this year go to James Dean at Maxx Fish and Alta Bistro's Scot Curry. The pair tied in the voting with Aaron Hopps of Brandy's garnering the same number of votes as James Akey of the Mix in second spot. Third place brought us a three-way tie between Tia Stonier of the Mix, Jeremy Patterson at Citta and Miles Wilkenson at Tommy Africa's.

Congratulations to all seven of these talented drink mixers.

Best Martini/Cocktail:

Creekbread – margarita

It might seem a bit odd that a pizza place shows up in this category but that is exactly how readers voted. Creekbread picked up the largest number of votes for the margaritas it mixes up.

The Mix polled second and Whistler's authentic margarita maker at the Sundial Hotel, The Mexican Corner, placed third in the voting.

Best Beer Selection:

Dubh Linn Gate

Let's get right to the point of the story of the Perfect Pint. Step six of the story, according to the Dubh Linn Gate, is the first sip. The experience is more than just putting liquid into a glass. Your eyes take in the look of the pint, the aroma fills your nose and then finally the liquid finishes the sensory journey by enveloping the tongue. The Dubh Linn Gate ran away with this one with 25 draught taps and beers from around the globe.

The Brewhouse and the Whistler Brewery, Whistler's two brewers, placed second and third, respectively.

Best DJ:

Foxy Moron

DJ Foxy Moron was really surprised to learn she was voted Whistler's favourite DJ.

"There are so many talented DJs in this town," she says. "I'm more of a 'record player.' My heart grew two sizes this day."

Foxy kicks it old school with 45-RPM vinyl records and a basic mixer.

Her surprise turns to doubt and she suggests there should be a recount.

"There must be a mistake," she insists.

Whistler loves Foxy Moron (a.k.a. Ace Mackay-Smith) — there is no mistaking this. Mat the Alien polled second and Jayse Aspey third.

Favourite Local's Hangout:

Tapley's Neighbourhood Pub

Back in 1981, Whistler's village was taking shape. The landfill was being transformed and one of the first businesses to open was Tapley's Neighbourhood Pub. Three decades later Tapley's continues to be popular with residents. The pub's offerings include a great patio, food and live music.

After Tapley's in voting comes Citta with the GLC and Dusty's picking up an equal number of third place votes.

The Whistler Medical Centre also received some votes! If they start serving beer and wine at the centre it might bring more votes in the future.
