Battle of badges returns

The Whistler RCMP will and Vancouver City Police will be battling over jurisdiction next month, specifically over who owns Meadow Park arena.

For the second year in a row, the RCMP and Vancouver police will face off in The Battle of the Badges, a charity event that raised more than $1,500 for the Whistler DARE (Drug Awareness Resistance and Education) program. This year DARE will once again receive the proceeds of the event.

While the Vancouver City Police team has been together for a long time, Whistler came close to beating them last season, eventually losing 8-6.

Former NHL greats Dave "Tiger" Williams and Gary Nylund will be officiating the game under trainer Jim "Bearcat" Murray.

The puck drops at 7 p.m on March 7. Tickets to the event are $15 each, or $45 for a family of four.
