During 2000, a total of 8.5 million visitors entered Canada via British Columbia. This was 2.6 per cent more than in the previous year, when the number of entries reached 8.3 million.

During 2000, a total of 8.5 million visitors entered Canada via British Columbia. This was 2.6 per cent more than in the previous year, when the number of entries reached 8.3 million. The bulk (7 million, or 83 per cent) of the entries were from the United States, with roughly equal numbers visiting B.C. on same-day and overnight trips. More than half (759,000) of the 1.5 million people who entered B.C. from overseas came from Asia. Entries from Europe totalled 498,000, while 134,000 visitors were from Australia, New Zealand and other South Pacific nations.
