B.C. by the numbers

The cost of traveller accommodation, which has been falling since April, plunged in October, dropping to 14.6 per cent below the October 2000 level. The accommodation industry, which was already weathering a downturn due to slower economic growth in North America, is expected to see lower volumes as a result of the September terrorist attacks. Lower prices may be one way of wooing otherwise wary travellers.
