The Audain Art Museum is hosting the provincial launch for the eighth annual BC Culture Days weekend.
There will be an opening ceremony, followed by a Youth Art Challenge for those aged 13 to 18, on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
BC Culture Days is part of a grassroots, collaborative national movement to raise awareness and participation in arts and cultural life throughout Canada. It takes place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.
"As an institution dedicated to showcasing the art of British Columbia, we are honoured to be the host of our province's official BC Culture Days launch event," Suzanne Greening, Director of the Audain Art Museum, said in a release.
The whole resort is becoming involved, with Arts Whistler currently developing arts programming for the weekend. More details will be announced in September.
During the launch, there will also be free access to the Audain's permanent collection and the current special exhibition — Edward Burtynsky: The Scarred Earth, as well as a musical showcase.

Audain launches visitors' survey
The Audain Art Museum has launched a visitors' survey for thoughts and feedback on the museum since it opened in March 2016.
The results are meant to assist the museum as they evaluate programs and develop the future direction of the museum.
The survey link was sent out to email subscribers. Responses will be anonymous; the survey closes on Aug. 3.
Museum LEGO competition chugs along
The Whistler Museum is holding its annual Lego competition for children in Florence Petersen Park on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m.
There are four age categories competing on the theme "transportation."
The work will be judged with prizes for the winners.

Fall for Arts wants visual artists
Arts Whistler is looking for visual artists to take part in three art shows as part of this year's Fall for Arts at The Gallery in the Maury Young Arts Centre.
Artists can select from five different show themes and the top three themes with the most submissions will make up the show and be exhibited in September, October or November.
Artists are invited to submit to the theme that most inspires them. They include On the High Seas, The Great White North, See You in Hell, Canada 150, Bursting the Bubble, and Robots and Unicorns.
