Zone sport representatives haven’t finalized team selections for the B.C. Winter Games, but with both alpine and freestyle skiing events featured, Whistler should be well-represented in Williams Lake this February.

Qualifications begin this month with more than 20 tournaments, playoffs and meets.

The zone ski teams will start their selection process in early December. Only K1 level alpine skiers, aged 11 and 12, will be eligible to compete in the slalom, giant slalom, dual slalom, team and disabled events. B.C. Games alumni in this category include Allison Forsyth and Rob Boyd.

The freestyle events, which include moguls, dual moguls and aerials, will be open to athletes aged 12 to 15.

More than 10,000 athletes will compete in the zone qualifiers, and 1,800 will participate in the B.C. Winter Games.
