Residents take note: starting March 1 at 5 a.m., the bus service in Whistler will return to normal.
After one month of enhanced service for the Olympic Games, B.C. Transit spokesperson Joanna Morton confirmed Tuesday that the number of buses operating in Whistler will drop from 135 to 38.
The only Olympic bus route that will be maintained next month is the Number 10 Games Express, which will run every 15 minutes until March 21.
The Main Street transit exchange will also no longer exist next week and all bus routes will end up at the Gondola exchange.
"Because there is going to be less Paralympic venues that B.C. Transit will be servicing, we don't feel there is going to be as high of a demand for transit as there was for the month of February," said Morton.
She also wanted to remind the public that fares will go back to the normal rates, although Paralympic event tickets will still cover public transit for the day of the event until 4 a.m.
The Sea to Sky checkpoint system ends at 6 p.m. on Feb. 28.
Meanwhile, the parking situation will also continue to morph. The three day skier parking lots closest to Gondola exchange - Lots 1, 2 and 3 - will be open to the public the first day of the month, and on March 3 Lot 6 at Base II will be public.
Lots 4 and 5 open up on March 27, and the rest of the day skier lots will be accessible on April 1.
Temporary parking on the Whistler driving range and on the Mons lot north of Whistler will also open up again, although both lots will be pay parking until March 21. Residents can access the driving range lot using Whistler Way, northbound only.
Normal regulations for street parking throughout the municipality will also kick into effect.
The Creekside Parkade will also remain closed for the most part, although there will be parking for the public on a first-come, first-serve basis to a maximum of 100 stalls from 5 p.m. to midnight starting March 1.
Some levels of the Creekside Parkade will open on March 22, and the entire parking lot will be public on April 22.
The Telus Conference Centre lots will also be closed to the public throughout March.
