Eighty-nine athletes across the province have been chosen to represent their zones in alpine skiing at the B.C. Winter Games, which will run from Feb. 21 to 24 in Williams Lake.

The races, a giant slalom, slalom and dual "glalom" (able and disabled mixed team relay race) were open to K1 level skiers, aged 11 and 12.

For Zone Five, Vancouver-Squamish, three Whistler athletes were named to the team; Deborah Bayliss, Sarah Marshall and Conrad Pridy. In addition, the Whistler Mountain Ski Club qualified another seven skiers to the team for a total of 10 out of the 14 available spots.

The other seven skiers are Alison Matasi, Katrina Dedur, Christina Disler, Carolyn Caldwell, Keiran Cormack, Scott Harrison and North Jones.

The club qualified the skiers after virtually sweeping the GS events at the Merrill Lynch races at Grouse Mountain on Jan. 12 and 13.
