The B.C. Assets and Lands Corporation says it will be announcing on Monday, Feb. 5 how many existing commercial backcountry recreation operators did manage to apply for tenure by the Dec. 29, 2000 cut-off date.

BCAL will also outline what enforcement action, if any, will now be taken against those Sea to Sky operators who may not have applied by the deadline.

There is also a possibility, said BCAL’s David Reilley, that the Crown corporation may be in a position to announce some new tenures for the Squamish Forest District.

The announcements will be made at a press conference in Whistler slated for 10 a.m. at the Crystal Lodge.
