Bid on Beanie Babies By Oona Woods Do your children hate Santa Claus? Did you get caught up in the pre-Christmas mad rush for the latest Beanie Babies? Are you still in the doghouse with junior? Well now is your chance to redress the mess as six highly-coveted Beanie Babies are being auctioned off over the weekend by Bear Pause in Whistler's Town Plaza. All money raised will be donated to The Jennifer Jones Whistler Bear Foundation which uses its resources to help ease the tension between Whistler's human and bruin populations. The Beanie Babies up for grabs are Princess Beanie Babies. As Bear Pause manager Maureen Liddy points out, they are held in high esteem by the children of the world. "They are very prized and difficult to get hold of. This Beanie Baby is known as the Princess Di Beanie Baby because all the proceeds from the beanie companies sales go to the Princess of Wales charitable foundation." Telephone and fax bids are being accepted for the six beanies right through until Monday, April 13. Liddy has taken out classified ads in papers as far away as Vancouver and Seattle. "Hopefully we'll be able to raise some decent money over the long weekend." If beanies aren't your bag then you may be interested in the other item up for auction. "We also have a Roots Athletics Olympic cap very graciously signed by Ross Rebagliati." You can telephone a bid in by dialling 905-0121, or fax it in at 905-0122. Liddy also welcomes anyone to drop into the shop in the Town Plaza and place a bid.
