Whistler black bear researcher Michael Allen is leading another five-week Bears for Kids educational program, offered through Whistler Parks and Recreation, starting later this month.
Children will assist Allen with spring bear research, including weighing bears, studying tracks, making plaster casts of tracks, examining bear day-beds and dens and observing bears. Most of the activity will take place in the Whistler Interpretive Forest.
The program, which take place on five consecutive Sundays from April 14 to May 12, are for children aged 10-12 years. Two sessions will be held each Sunday, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Each session is limited to four children. Cost is $120. Snowshoes may be required.

The Weather Network will be in Whistler during National Wildlife Week to film Allen and one of the Bears for Kids sessions.
