Beary fun time with live show and prizes

“The bears have been more of an issue this year compared to previous years and we are going to do our part to help them live in harmony with us.

Hip hop duo Animal Nation realized they needed to give back to the source of their identity — no not the huge tiger and panda costumes they don, but the animals dear to their heart as well as to the rest of Whistler.

Animal Nation is hosting a fundraising party for the Get Bear Smart Society on Tuesday, March 20 at Moe Joe’s.

“My bandmate and I came to the conclusion that if we want to call ourselves Animal Nation then we are going to have to do something in honour of these non-humanistic creatures that share the earth with us,” said Mike Armitage. “The bears have been more of an issue this year compared to previous years and we are going to do our part to help them live in harmony with us. But this is no ordinary party time fundraiser.”

Armitage promises that Animal Nation will put the “fun” into “fundraiser” with Whistler’s “funnest” night yet.

In addition to wordplay from Animal Nation, Vancouver Island’s Character Traits will hit the stage. There will also be tons of free draw prizes, including a five-day Whistler-Blackcomb Edge Card, snowmobile tours, bungee jumping, zip-treking, gift certificates from restaurants and local shops, and much more.

“We’ve decided to up the ante and put the “fun” in “fundraiser” by networking with the local businesses to collect a bunch of free draw prizes as well as two free Russel Brewery beers with an admission ticket.”

Tickets for the snowboard.com-sponsored event are $8.
