Fiber Options was just minutes away from their first victory of the season over Whistler-Blackcomb in Whistler Summer Soccer League on Monday evening.

But a late second half rally and a second goal by Rob Benash put Whistler-Blackcomb on top with the clock winding down.

Whistler-Blackcomb opened the scoring on five minutes, Benash converting from close range. Fiber Options levelled the scores 1-1 at the 15 minute mark, midfielder Jamie Girard scoring with a low right foot drive from 15 yards. Some excellent saves at both ends from goalkeepers Geoff Martin and Rob Eddolls kept the score level at half-time.

A hotly contested start to the second half saw Whistler-Blackcomb's Kris Cooper red carded for dissent. Things got worse for Whistler-Blackcomb on 60 minutes when Ali Amos gave Fiber Options a much deserved lead, scoring with a well finished back post header from five yards.

It was almost three for Fiber options in the 70th minute, Aaron Darrell hitting the crossbar with a left footed lob from 30 yards out.

Whistler-Blackcomb scored the game's next goal, when with 10 minutes left on the clock Devin Jodrey connected from the edge of the box with a sweetly struck, left footed free kick. Whistler-Blackcomb were now pushing forward with intent and J. F. Richer found the net in the 87th minute, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside.

Whistler-Blackcomb sealed their win in the final minute of the match when Benash found himself on the edge of a scoring pass after a Drew Hitchmough-inspired counter attack. With the last kick of the game the striker controlled the ball on the uneven pitch surface and sent home a low, curled right foot shot past the despairing Fiber Option's Keeper Eddolls.

The final result was Whistler/Blackcomb 3, Fiber Options 2.
