Bid Corp. to discuss Nordic facility

The Nordic sports facility will be the focus of the next fireside chat by the 2010 Olympic Bid Corporation. The chat, which will be hosted by Richard Way, director of sport for the corporation, will be help Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

The chat, which will be hosted by Richard Way, director of sport for the corporation, will be help Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Raven Room at the Delta Village Suites.

The Nordic program includes sports such as ski jumping, cross-country skiing, biathlon, and the Nordic combined.

The Bid Corporation has proposed the Nordic facility be built in the Callaghan Valley.

Way and several guests will review plans for the centre and discuss the latest proposals for the area.

The guests include Torgeir Nordby, ski jump designer for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics, Rob McCormack ski jump designer for the 1995 world championships in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Ray Kokkonen, biathlon stadium designer for the 1988 Calgary Winter Games and Bjorger Pettersen, a trail designer for the 1988 Calgary Olympics and an attendee at every Winter Games since 1952.

The International Olympic Committee will select the host for the 2010 games in July 2003.
