Local downhillers and freeriders looking to get the jump on all the World Cup racers expected for Joyride Bikercross 2001 can start training early – the course at the base of Whistler Mountain was completed ahead of schedule.

"It’s all ready to go," says Chris Winter of Joyride Productions, the organizer of the event. "The track is a lot wider than last year, and it gets a lot more technical, which should create a lot of passing opportunities. We’re stoked how well it turned out."

Most of the sign-up will take place on race day, but World Cup downhillers Andrew Shandro, Chad Onyschuk and Dave Watson have already committed. Joyride also expects other World Cup downhillers, in Vancouver for the World Cup triple at Grouse Mountain, to join in once the word gets out.

Registration will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 3, training will run from 3 to 4:45 p.m., and the qualifiers start at 5 p.m. sharp.
