Birken bust yields 125 plants

Sophisticated grow operation shut down

A neigbour’s report of suspicious behaviour has led to the bust of a marijuana grow op in the 9200 block of Gimse Road in Birken. Pemberton RCMP executed a search warrant on premises on Nov. 12.

Inside the rented home, officers found what Cst. Paul Vadik described as a “sophisticated marijuana grow operation.” RCMP seized 125 marijuana plants, along with associated hydroponic growing equipment. BC Hydro was called to the residence to disable the power once the electrical integrity of the home was deemed to be severely compromised.

The property’s owner and current renter continue to be under investigation. No charges have been laid.

Other drug-related investigations in the area are ongoing. Police are asking for the continued assistance of the public.
