Blackcomb could be the setting for a weekly TV series. Blackcomb is negotiating with an international production company interested in shooting the pilot for a proposed television series based on the adventures and exploits of the professional ski patrol. "They are a well-financed, international production company," says David Barry, Blackcomb’s director of public relations(?). "They’ve given us a proposal and we’re finalizing details." Filming could begin in April but it may not start until next December, Barry said. The idea and initial draft for the pilot came from local ski writer Michel Beaudry. Beaudry spent time in Europe last summer and fall finding a production company interested in the project. He says he was paid for his draft and hasn’t been involved in the project since November. Barry believes the pilot will go ahead. If it is judged successful a series of 13 episodes would be filmed. Barry said whether the Blackcomb name or a fictitious name is used for the ski area in the pilot, the film will still be a work of fiction.
