Pemberton RCMP are asking residents who are interested in participating in their new community-based Blockwatch program to sign up.
Cst. Lea Scott is heading up this latest initiative, but it was actually a local woman who pushed to have the program brought to the Pemberton area after falling victim to crime.
A release issued by the RCMP Oct. 18 states that “crime is a community problem that requires a community response” and calls on Pemberton residents to get involved and become part of the solution. They say volunteers simply need to keep an eye out for their neighbours and report any suspicious or criminal activities to police.
The RCMP plans to distribute pamphlets about the program throughout the community.
