Whether Whistlerites are drinking more or recycling more, the Whistler Bottle Depot has extended its hours to accommodate the influx of bottles, cans and other drinking containers.
Most drinkable containers are now on the deposit-refund system, except for milk products and meal replacements. To handle the influx of containers the Whistler Bottle Depot is now open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, noon to 4 p.m.
Commercial loads are accepted by appointment before noon and after 4 p.m. Call 932-3733 to make an appointment.
The deposit-refund system plays a major role in reducing landfill waste.
The Whistler Bottle Depot is on Nesters Road, next to the municipal works yard.
