The 33rd annual Brackendale Winter Eagle Count is set for Sunday, Jan. 6.

The Squamish Environment Society is looking for "intrepid volunteers ready to brave the elements, and cover routes by foot, snowshoe, raft and skis," said a representative of the society

"We would also be keen to have some experienced kayakers to reach some nooks and crannies."

The volunteers cover 20 areas over a 104-square kilometre area from the Elaho to downtown Squamish, and from Paradise Valley to the Stawamus River.

Home base, as always, will be the Brackendale Art Gallery.

January 2018's count was 962.
