Much of the money will be spent constructing and re-aligning eight new two-lane bridges, which will replace single-lane bridges. The Lillooet Station Bridge will be replaced first, with the Boulder Creek, Canal, Gott Creek, Dunlop, Graham, Cayoosh Creek No. 4 and Long Cayoosh Creek bridges being replaced over the following four years.
The program, announced March 12, also includes repaving and alignment upgrades to Highway 99 between Lillooet and the Highway 97 junction north of Cache Creek.
"Lillooet is going to be a gateway to the Olympics and the community is preparing to welcome the world," Yale-Lillooet MLA Dave Chutter said in a release. "These upgrades will boost our local economy now and for generations to come."
