Buying a pass? Do it now!

Whether you’re new to town or have a tendency to leave things to the last minute, this is just a reminder that opening day for the mountains is chaos.

If you’re purchasing a pass this year, get it early or be prepared to wait in a long lineup at Guest Relations on the big day, while everyone else heads up to enjoy the snow.

Blackcomb Mountain is expecting to open on Saturday, Nov. 20 if weather permits, and Whistler Mountain will open the following Thursday, Nov. 25. Already this week more than 30 centimetres of snow has fallen, and more could be on the horizon next week in the alpine.

Spirit passes, which are available to Whistler employees of Chamber of Commerce members, are $999 this year, $170 less than in 2003. Employers have to register their staff online to be eligible.

Youth and seniors passes are $499.

The Whistler-Blackcomb Edge Card is also available for $49, including a free day of skiing and lift ticket discounts between $5 and $26 over the course of the season.
