The region’s more horizontally-inclined skiers can look forward to the 24 th Annual Fairmont Chateau Whistler Cup Cross Country Ski Loppet Feb. 11, one of the valley’s longest running traditions.

The Loppet is a free technique or skate race for all ages and abilities, that winds its way through the Lost Lake/Fairmont Chateau/Nicklaus North Golf Course trails systems. It will be hosted by the Whistler Nordics, sponsored by the Chateau, and features the Wild Willies Ski Club Jackrabbits.

To register, pick up a form an Wild Willies at Nesters, the Lost Lake ticket booth or the Whistler Nordic Centre at Nicklaus North. You can also enter by calling Cheryl Morningstar at 932-3438. Entries must be in by Friday, Feb. 9, two days before race day.

The categories available are Jackrabbits (13 and younger, 7.5 kilometre course), Junior (14 to 17, 15 km course), Recreational (15 km course, less competitive) and by age category (30 km, more competitive).

The race starts at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 11 at the Chateau Whistler Golf Course clubhouse.
