Entries are now being accepted from restaurants interested in putting their best soup forward for the annual Alta Lake School Harvest Soup Contest.

Entries are now being accepted from restaurants interested in putting their best soup forward for the annual Alta Lake School Harvest Soup Contest.

The contest, is a Thanksgiving tradition that honours the bountiful harvest and showcases some of Whistler’s most talented chefs. It takes place in Blackcomb’s Upper Village on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and coincides with the annual Turkey Sale and the last Farmers’ Market of the season.

For $5, voters can sample each soup, and enjoy a vote-casting bowl of their favourite, along with a fresh roll. Some of last year’s entries included the Four Seasons’ Roasted Sugar Pumpkin with Truffled Chantrells and The Dubh Linn Gate's Celtic Roasted Root Vegetable.

"The calibre of the soups is outstanding," says organizer Peggy Vogler. "My mouth is watering just thinking about them!"

Restaurants interested in participating should call 604-932-1885. Deadline for registration is Oct. 1. All money raised at the Harvest Soup Contest will go into school operating costs, including a fund to purchase new sports equipment.
