Calling all singers

If you love singing you could find your voice with the Whistler Singers.

The community choir has been singing together for more than 20 years, with a repertoire that includes classical music with excerpts from masses, madrigals and choral pieces.

The choir is always looking for new members, especially now as the singers, who range in age from 18 to 75 years old, work towards spring concerts.

There are no auditions for the Whistler Singers and no experience is necessary.

"Often, people come with apprehension, thinking we are going to move at lightening speed with me yelling and screaming, but that doesn't happen," said Choir Director Jeff Maskell. "We are there to have a good time and ultimately that is what music is about."

The Whistler Singers meet every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at MY Millennium Place. A Pemberton group meets at the same time every Wednesday at the Signal Hill Elementary School.
