Campground proposals asked for further studies The Riverside and Edgewater Campground proposals may still go ahead. Proponents of the two proposals will be asked to submit formal rezoning and OCP amendment applications, as well as environmental impact studies. Council asked the two proponents to proceed with further studies Monday, four months after a public information meeting on the proposals drew considerable opposition. A report to council noted there are potential environmental impacts on both sites, but full environmental impact assessments are requested because at this stage in the process municipal staff are not qualified to judge the impacts of the campground developments. Councillor Max Kirkpatrick said the demand for camping space necessitated some action be taken. He noted that preliminary inquiries into using some of the day-skier parking lots as temporary campgrounds was not promising.
