Canadian skiers go south

While Canadians roast in record high temperature, members of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team are on the slopes in the southern hemisphere training for the 2001-2002 season and 2002 Winter Olympics.

The men’s speed team, giant slalom team, and super G team is currently training at La Parva, Chile.

The men’s technical team is training with the U.S. team at Coronet Peak in New Zealand. The men’s development team is training in Barilloche, Argentina, site of the 2003 World Junior Championships, alongside development teams from the U.S., France, Italy and Slovenia.

The women’s speed team is in El Colorado, Chile training with the German team.

The women’s technical team is also at Coronet Peak, training with some of the best giant slalom skiers on the World Cup circuit, notably Sonja Nef of Switzlerland and Claudia Riegler of New Zealand.

The women’s development team is en route to their second camp of the summer in Chile.
