Canadians third in ISF boardercross

Whistler’s Erin Simmons and Drew Neilson of Vernon finished third overall in the final International Snowboarding Federation boardercross of the season last weekend in Switzerland.

Whistler’s Erin Simmons and Drew Neilson of Vernon finished third overall in the final International Snowboarding Federation boardercross of the season last weekend in Switzerland.

Ahead of Simmons were Line Oestvold of Norway and Catherine Poetzl of Austria. Neilson finished behind Xavier Delerue of France and Phillip Conte of Swizterland.

Neilson ended his season with a third place finish behind Delerue and Conte on April 7. Alison Clark of Vancouver and Erin Simmons of Whistler finished fourth and fifth behind Fabienne Reutler of Switzerland, Catherine Poetzl of Austria, and Tanja Frieden of Switzerland.

Alison Clark of Vancouver finished eight overall in the women’s standings. Maëlle Ricker, another Whistler rider, finished 15th, although she missed the last part of the season for the third year in a row with a knee injury. Candice Drouin of Banff was 20 th .

In the men’s competition, Robert Fagan and Scott Gaffney of Calgary finished 12 th and 13 th respectively.

The ISF alpine and halfpipe champions are being decided this week in Laax, Switzlerland.
