The public has until Oct. 12 to provide input regarding the Cayoosh ski resort proposed for the Melvin Creek basin off the Duffey Lake Road between Pemberton and Lillooet. An open house has been scheduled at the Chateau Whistler for Thursday, Sept. 20 between 3 and 7 p.m., with presentations starting at 7:30 p.m. The provincial Environmental Assessment Office is inviting public comment as part of the environmental assessment process for the proposed four-season resort. The comment period officially started Aug. 13 and will run until Oct. 12. EA office staff will be on hand to answer questions about the review process while staff from NGR Resort Consultants, proponents of the development, will present the project. NGR has also addressed several outstanding issues deemed unresolved in the initial 1996 application. A report which assesses potential effects of the project and presents strategies for managing them has been submitted. The resort proposal can be viewed at the public libraries in Kamloops, Lillooet, Squamish, Vancouver and Whistler or on-line at www.eao.gov.bc.ca
