The Cheakamus Community Forest (CCF) is renewing its forest stewardship plan and is inviting the public to comment.

The non-profit will host an open house today, Feb.28, at the Whistler Public Library, where the public can view the plan, which is technical in nature.

First approved back in 2009—and amended a number of times since—the plan is about to reach its term limit, as set out by the province.

"It's a mandatory requirement, because the times up," explained Tom Cole, operations forester with the CCF. "(The province) doesn't want these things living forever without someone refreshing them."

The plan includes a number of "refinements" made to such issues as First Nations engagement and fuel reduction, explained Cole.

The open house will be held from 2 to 5:00 p.m. at the Whistler Public Library.
