The 2011 Census needs bodies.
Statistics Canada has announced it is looking to staff 35,000 jobs across Canada for the 2011 Census collection and about 76 of those jobs could be reserved for people in Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton.
People are needed for a variety of supervisory and non-supervisory roles between March and August.
The Census questionnaire is a means by which Canadian residents provide important information to the federal government in the course of making decisions on areas such as schools, roads, waterworks, public transit and emergency services. Data from the census will also be used to determine the number of Members of Parliament.
Municipal planners uses the census to collect information on households and families so they can help plan for future housing needs, health care and day care.
All Canadian households must complete the census.
In the Sea to Sky region, about seven full-time positions as crew leaders and 69 positions as enumerators are available. Pay for the jobs will be anywhere from $14.72 to $18.04 an hour plus authorized expenses.
All applicants must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in Canada and be able to commit at least 20 hours of work a week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
All applicants require a driver's license and in some areas access to a vehicle. Applicants should also be computer-literate and have access to the Internet at home.
