CEP grants awarded to community groups

Council gives $140,932 to recipients

Council has divvied up more than $140,000 in grant money to 25 programs in the community.
The recipients range sports clubs to the quilters' guild and children's programs.
As in year's past, the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association (WORCA) was awarded the biggest grant of $25,000. The Whistler Gymnastics Club was given $10,000, the naturalists society $8,000 and the Whistler Children's Centre $11,000.
"We are pleased to provide these grants to organizations that make a significant contribution to our community priorities," said Mayor Melame. "As in past years, council continues to be impressed at quality and the diverse range of programs provided by the many dedicated volunteers in the community."
Twenty-nine applications were received this year and each group had the opportunity to present their request before council.
