The Whistler Chamber of Commerce has chosen its 2015 Board of Directors.

The results of last month's electronic vote were announced at the Chamber's Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Kyle Hannay of McCoo's, Sarah Strother of Whistler Publishing and incumbent board member Ben Thomas of VIP Mountain Holidays will fill the board's three vacancies, each beginning a three-year term at the start of 2015.

"We're delighted to have them on our board," chamber CEO Val Litwin said.

"They're already leaders in our community and we look for that sector representation on our board as much as we can, and so to have retail, to have media and to have tourism represented by those three members on our board is terrific."

The new directors will be sworn in at the first board meeting in January 2015.

Whistler experience scholarship seeking nominations

The Whistler Chamber is offering two scholarships granting free access to service and sales training at the Whistler Experience workshop series.

Nominations for the scholarship close Sunday, Dec. 7.

Nominees must be aspiring leaders (currently working in a non-managerial position) or new leaders (who started in their first leadership position within the last three months).

"This is just a tremendous opportunity for two people in Whistler to send themselves to university for free," Litwin said.

"We've got a world-class program here that's on offer, it's valued at over $2,000, and they're going to get it for free. It's something they can put on their resume and keep for a lifetime."

Nominations can be done through an application form at www.whistlerchamber.com.

Scholarship winners will be announced on Monday, Dec. 8.
