The 20 th annual Cheakamus Challenge Fall Classic Mountain Bike Race is now online and accepting entries.

Part of the "Celebration of Pain" weekend, the Cheakamus Challenge is considered the last epic bike event of the season, as well as one of the top point-to-point races in the country, and routinely attracts the top riders in Canada and B.C.

The race itself runs from Squamish to Whistler, using the highway, dirt roads, doubletrack and singletrack, including large sections of the Sea to Sky Trail. The route is approximately 71 kilometres and climbs from sea level to near the midway point of Whistler Mountain before descending into Whistler Village.

In addition to the Cheakamus Challenge, the Celebration of Pain weekend includes the P’Nuts Wild Ride downhill in Squamish and Ride02, a free riding clinic for kids with World Cup and national team riders in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

For the second year in a row, the organizers will also present Cheeky Awards to members of the mountain bike community who make a difference by organizing events, building trails, and volunteering their time to the advance the sport.

Ride02 will run on Sept. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. The Cheakamus Challenge will be held on the following day, starting at 9 a.m. sharp. P’Nuts Wild Ride takes place on Sunday.
