It's almost that time of year for the local artistic community to share their know how with budding talent. The Whistler Children's Art Festival is now accepting proposals from artists who would like to participate in the weekend workshops.
"Artists just need to come to us with an idea, for example my background is in drawing or sculpting," says festival co-ordinator Aileen Durie. "And they need to tell us how they'd like to share their knowledge and skills with the children. It's very important that they have previous experience with children and know how to communicate on their level."
Workshops are available May 26 th and 27 th for kindergarten up to Grade 6 students. Each workshop accommodates about 15 children for one hour. Art supplies are provided by the committee, but Durie says they're still in great need of manpower.
If you're not an artist but want to support the art community and/or the local kids, Durie is searching for committee heads.
"Last year we had six people just in charge of organizing the artists. Those positions are a little more time consuming, but they're also the ones I need the most," says Durie.
If you've only got a few hours to spare, there are still lots of jobs to be filled, whether it's in promotions or simply set up and clean up on the days of the festival.
