Children’s storyteller to perform

By Whistler Public Library staff

Come meet and listen to storyteller Anne Glover on Sunday, March 3 at 4 p.m. at Myrtle Philip Community Centre. This is a wonderful way to end a day of family skiing. Children ages 5 and up and their caregivers are welcome. Admission is by donation.

Anne Glover is a storyteller based in Victoria, B.C. She performs widely to school, festival, family and adult audiences. Her storytelling draws on her formal background in languages and education and her informal background in life. She has been weaving education with entertainment for years, incorporating English and French, Sign Language and string games into her programs.

Anne has an engaging manner, excellent audience rapport, and an uncanny ability to create characters out of thin air. Her string games and mystifying sound effects captivate even the most recalcitrant audience.

Anne's theatrical training began when she was two and suddenly had to account for the flooded toilet and the simultaneous disappearance of her brother's favourite toy. She has performed to spellbound audiences across Canada and the US for years, incorporating her life-long love of languages, dance, folklore, and, yes, her brothers. She performed for a number of years in the former duo Kaetz & Glover, and co-produced with musician David Kaetz a series of recordings: Trois p'tits chats, Dans ta poche, Cinq croissants, The Flying Turtle, The Adventures of Spider and Turtle, Creuse là, Jazzrabbits, Folk Dances For Young Folk, and Le Coeur du singe et autres contes en musique.

Anne's work is rooted in a humorous view of human nature and a spirited approach to life's challenges.
