Christmas spirit howling This Christmas, the Mount Currie community will be running the third annual Lil’wat Christmas Bureau to provide holiday support for needy families in the area. Last year, more than 66 families received holiday help through hampers stocked with toys, food and clothing, as well as monetary support. This year organizers are looking for contributions of food, new toys and money to help the program. Donations can be dropped off in Mount Currie and cash donations can be deposited in the Lil’wat Christmas Bureau accounts set up at the North Shore Credit Union and the Bank of Nova Scotia. All donations are tax detectable. For more information phone Rachel Andrew at 894-6656 or fax 894-5639. Meanwhile, in Whistler, the Santa’s Helper Fund is rolling again this holiday season. The program provides financially-restricted families in Whistler, Mount Currie and D’Arcy with hampers laden with ingredients for Christmas dinner, gifts for kids and other treats. Whistler Community Services needs donations to fill the hampers and volunteers to help wrap, fill and deliver the hampers. To register to receive a hamper, to volunteer or to donate call Whistler Community Services at 932-0113.
