The world premiere of Sacred Flight, a new work by veteran filmmakers Peter Chrzanowski and Ivan Hughes, will be at next month's Vancouver International Film Festival.

Sacred Flight tells the story of Chrzanowski's journey to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains in remote north-eastern Columbia. The region is home to the reclusive Kogi, one of the last remaining traditional indigenous cultures. The Kogi have maintained their purety by avoiding contact with the outside world.

Chrzanowski first encountered the Kogi a decade ago. He was not allowed to summit the mountains at that time. The film chronicles his return with a paraglider for one sacred flight.

The VIFF takes place Oct. 1-16. Screening times for Sacred Flight will be confirmed in the next weeks.
