DJ Seanski makes the move to Moe Joe’s

After seven years spinning hip-hop in the basement of the Savage Beagle Vancouver DJ Seanski decided he needed a change of scenery.

The New York native and former touring DJ for Gangstarr MC Guru’s Jazzmatazz project has moved his Tuesday hip-hop night to Moe Joe’s. The bar is celebrating their new DJ at Seanski’s debut this Tuesday, March 29 by giving away a Pocket Bike 50 cc crotch rocket.

The bar has moved its Cowgirl’s Inc. country/rock ’n’ roll night featuring Coyote Ugly-inspired dancers to Thursdays and will kick off the new night with live music by Jason Bonell’s new cowpunk project A Broken Down Ford and 3 Dead Dogs.

Speaking of country music...

Creekside Stampede goes hog wild at Dusty’s

Shine up yer shit-kickers, Dusty’s Bar and Barbecue is headquarters for the weekend’s Creekside Stampede this weekend.

It all starts Friday, March 25 with a pancake breakfast and afternoon fun on the patio with mechanical bull-riding for all ages, a slough of games like horse-shoe pitching and calf-roping, and tunes by DJ Country Monkey (a.k.a. Susan Butler).

Friday night the bull comes into the bar and becomes the domain of emcee Rusty the Bull Rodeo clown, with live music by Vancouver rock/country band Grease Fire.

The Stampede continues Saturday with a pancake breakfast, and live music and more cowboy games including cow-patty tossing on the patio during the afternoon. In the evening the bar is serving up a whole hog barbecue feed and capping things off with a Saloon Barn Dance featuring live music by the Erik Neielson Band, best known as the regular back up crew for nu-country stud Aaron Pritchett.

Tickets for the barn dance are $10, available at Dusty’s. For information call 604-905-2171.

Action figure fun

And now for something completely different...

The always-entertaining local DJ Mr. Fister is hosting a Six-Inch Superstars party on Saturday, March 26 at the GLC. Ever wondered what you would look like as an action figure? What weapons/special skills you’d have? Figure it out and come dressed accordingly. No lineup for people in costumes.

Spare Grooves at Bounce

Those that remember and miss the Spare Grooves hip-hop nights at now defunct nightclub Maxx Fish can come by Garfinkel’s on Sunday evening for a Spare Grooves Reunion hosted by the weekly Sunday Night Bounce hip-hop night.

The night will feature duelling Groove resident DJs Mat the Alien and Kilocee with live guest MCs rockin’ the mic, yo.
