Loki went everywhere with his owner Colin Law, before a crash took Law’s life on Nov. 20.
Loki, Law’s dog, was in the vehicle at the time, and was seriously injured when Law’s car slid into a light pole in slippery conditions. Since the crash, Loki has been through emergency surgery and is recovering from his injuries. However, veterinarian bills are piling up for Law’s ex-girlfriend who is caring for the dog with some help from Law’s friends in Whistler and Vancouver.
On Friday, Dec. 15 his friends are hosting a fundraiser at the Garibaldi Lift Company to remember Law and raise money to cover Loki’s bills. Law was a co-owner of Wake to Wake Wakeboarding in Whistler and worked at several restaurants in town over the years. At the time of the crash he was also working for beer companies in Vancouver, dividing his time between the city and Whistler.
Doors open at 9 p.m. and the event is expected to fill up quickly. The cost to get in is $10, and volunteers will be selling raffle tickets to win prizes including a signed jersey and basketball from NBA star Steve Nash, tickets to see the Vancouver Canucks, a snowboard from Leanne Pelosi, gift certificates to numerous restaurants in Vancouver and Whistler, spa treatments, adventure tours, and other items.
Three bands are providing entertainment for the night — Donnie’s Ashes, Black Collar Crowd and Forever End.

Any proceeds left over from the event will be directed to Playgroundbuilders in Colin Law’s name. Playgroundbuilders builds playgrounds in war-torn countries around the world, including Palestine. The group is also looking to build playgrounds in Iraq.
