Fresh snow on the peaks of local mountains last month has construction crews working harder than ever to close in buildings before the snow comes. But despite the frantic pace of construction in Village North there could have been more this summer. Lot 23, a hotel/timeshare parcel on Village Gate Boulevard, between Northlands Boulevard and Highway 99, is still for sale. The site is zoned for 91,000 square feet of hotel space and 12,000 square feet of commercial/retail space. A similarly zoned parcel, Lot 5, is owned by United Properties, which originally indicated it would do some site preparation this summer. Instead, lot has been untouched, although the former parking lot has not been usable all summer. A number of developments are scheduled to be completed by early December, including two of Appia Developments three buildings in the Whistler Town Plaza project, the 48-unit Tyndall Stone Lodge, Market Pavilion with its 39 retail/commercial/office spaces and 29 residential suites, and the 54 townhomes of Stoney Creek. The third building in Town Plaza is expected to be finished by mid-February. Next year, Appia Developments intends to begin work on 98 townhomes immediately north of Stoney Creek. Trilogy Development Corporation intends to build an 87-unit lodge across Main Street from Market Pavilion, called Alpenglow Lodge. Trilogy also plans to start work on 126 townhouses adjacent to the Whistler Racquet and Golf Resort, called Whistler Glen. And there may be some work done on Lots 5 and 23.
