Errata When the Silver Dart lifted off the ice of Bra D'Or Lake near Baddeck, Nova Scotia, on that frosty February morning in 1909, it was JAD McCurdy piloting the fragile bird of sticks, wire and silk into the history books as the first machine-powered flight in the British Empire. There may have been a "JAW McCurdy" close by, but he was no where near the controls of the Silver Dart, as reported in Pique Newsmagazine, Nov. 28.
