Council changes time, format

The public will now get the chance to ask the mayor and councillors any questions on their mind at the start of every council meeting. A bylaw passed on Monday night allows for a question and answer period to kick off each meeting.

The public will now get the chance to ask the mayor and councillors any questions on their mind at the start of every council meeting.

A bylaw passed on Monday night allows for a question and answer period to kick off each meeting. Previously the Q&A time was slotted at the end of every meeting.

Council meetings will now start at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, as opposed to the regular 7 p.m. start. The next council meeting, on April 7, will follow this format.

Japanese students arrive

Ten Japanese students have arrived in Whistler for the third annual student exchange between the resort and its sister city of Karuizawa.

The 14-15 year old students will have an action-packed week to practise their English and learn first-hand about life in Canada. Their week will be filled with English classes, a Disco Skate at Meadow Park, phys. ed. classes at the high school and of course some time on the mountain.

Whistler students will head to Japan in the summer to get a taste of life Japanese-style.
