Here's a quick look at what to expect at Tuesday's council meeting, kicking off at 5:30 p.m. at the Maury Young Arts Centre.

CECAP UPDATE

Recruitment of Whistler's full-time climate change coordinator is underway, with the successful candidate expected to start in May, according to Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) staff.

Having the new staff member on board will help carry out actions in Whistler's Community Energy and Climate Action Plan (CECAP), on which council will receive a first-quarter update at its April 16 meeting.

The update highlights fuel reduction work and second reading of the Official Community Plan as two more positives on the CECAP front in Q1, while noting that transportation issues continue to be a priority item moving forward.

While work is progressing on many fronts, many CECAP action items remain unchanged from the last update to council, the report concludes—though the addition of the climate change coordinator and a new full-time solid waste technician will help speed up progress on energy and emission reduction.

OCP PUBLIC HEARING

At 6 p.m. sharp, residents will have their last chance to weigh in on the Official Community Plan by way of a public hearing.

A copy of the proposed bylaw and relevant background documentation are available at the reception desk at Municipal Hall, 4325 Blackcomb Way, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday until April 16.

Written comments must be addressed to "Mayor and Council" and will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on April 16.

Following the public hearing, the OCP bylaw will come back to council for third and final reading at an upcoming council meeting, followed by ministerial review at the provincial level (including consultation with the Lil'wat and Squamish nations).

Official adoption of the bylaw is planned for later in 2019.

AND MUCH, MUCH MORE

Also at Tuesday's busy meeting, council will consider: third reading for a rezoning for public washrooms near the Gateway Loop; contracts for the Spruce Grove Sewer Lift Station project and Whistler's 2019 paving work; a housing agreement with the Lil'wat Nation for its development in Function Junction; first three readings for the 2019 property tax and utility rate bylaws, and more.
