Cross draws a crowd

Over 150 skiers and boarders turned out for the first of two Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Cross competitions.

Over 150 skiers and boarders turned out for the first of two Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Cross competitions this past weekend, with several categories for younger skiers filling up.

In Ski Girls 10 and Under, Erin Dawson won all five heats to take the win, followed by Jenny Shannon, Lucia Plunkett and Alissa Wong.

In Ski Boys 10 and Under the top racer was Christian Callaghan, followed by Jake Bennett, Konrad Rieper and Dawson Yates.

In Ski Girls 11 to 13, Alexa Velcic placed first, followed by Carlin Mann, Kristina Natelenko and Brooklyn Higgs.

Finn Iles topped the Ski Boys 11 to 13 category, trailed by Kasper Woolley, Kyle Alexander and Jackson Bathgate.

In Ski Girls 14 to 16, Elie Taillefer was first, followed by Sarah Lepine, Cassidy Deane and Chantal Deane.

Chrisopher O'Neil finished on top of Ski Boys 14 to 16, followed by Bryan Cadman, Jack Iles and Alexander Geddes.

In Ski Men 17 and Over it was Peter Skryabin on top, followed by Steven MacLean and Satoshi Gato.

Quinn Dubois placed first in Snowboard Boys 13 and Under, followed by David Lee, Johnathan Williams and Taka Inoue.

Sawyer Plato finished on top of Snowboard Boys 14 to 16, followed by Travis Friesen, Dominick Harry and Zach Doleski.

There were just four men in Snowboard Men 17 and Over, racing the course three times. Tim Seven Kay won two heats and finished second once to place first, followed by Michael Jobson, Mario Perrella and Denis Reviakin.

The second Whistler Blackcomb Snowcross presented by Powerade is scheduled for Mar. 5 to 6.
