CTV sportscaster Perry Solkowski will be broadcasting from Whistler next week as part of the Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships, March 21 to 26, along with Farhan Lalji from TSN. Tamara Taggart will also be doing her weather report from Whistler on Friday, March 23.
Solkowski will also be acting as emcee for the awards ceremonies taking place that weekend.
The Canadian Championships will feature skiers from the national team, development team, provincial teams, as well as the top club racers from across the country. More than $40,000 in prize money is up for grabs for athletes. More importantly, the championships are a place to get noticed by national team coaches.
The championships also took place in Whistler last season, and will continue to take place through 2009 in the build-up to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The racers will use the same courses as will be used in 2010, most of which have been completed.
