Fred "Cyclone" Taylor Junior, a well-known B.C. hockey enthusiast, died in Vancouver on April 1 at the age of 84.

Fred Taylor Jr. was active in Whistler’s hockey program, sponsoring both minor league teams and the senior Cyclones, last year’s league champions.

The son of NHL Hall of Famer "Cyclone" Taylor Senior, Fred played amateur hockey throughout his youth, but was denied an opportunity to follow his father’s footsteps and go pro when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War, where he served as an officer.

He operated Cyclone Taylor Sports in Vancouver for more than 25 years, selling hockey equipment and figure skates throughout North America.

Funeral Services are being held in Vancouver on April 6 at 3 p.m. at Ryerson United Church, 2195 West 45 th .
